Year 10 iMedia Trip

Year 10 iMedia students visited Museum of Brands in West London

The core trip objectives were to enhance students’ understanding of visual identity design and branding logos and slogans which is relevant to the both GCSE and Creative iMedia courses.

All students attended the Smoothie Lab Workshop, developed in partnership with innocent. This provided an insight into the various considerations and choices that are made when developing a product.

Engagement was high and of course behaviour was exemplary.

The trip to the Museum of Brands was very enlightening. It was a good educational experience and was a good opportunity to learn about the history of branding and how packaging evolved over time. We had a well-planned workshop from Innocent drinks, and we got the chance to make our own smoothies after pitching a design. We also considered factors such as cost, budget, ingredients and client needs. Overall, this was a fun and great trip that we went on.

Jasper

Our visit to the Museum of Brands was useful for understanding branding for a company. Not only did I learn the use of brands, but I also saw just how much they change over time. We completed a workshop by Innocent where we designed and branded a smoothie. This greatly helped me understand the true use of a brand and just how much it helps companies sell their products.

Laksan

I particularly enjoyed making the smoothies and describing what we put in the mixture and how healthy and eco-friendly it was. I liked how the Museum took us all the way back into the 1960s when we weren’t even born and showed us what brands and materials were used then.

When it was lunch time, I loved how we all sat outside in November in this majestic garden and enjoyed our lunches. Mrs Graham and Mr Fagan were really kind and we had a good time.

Jesse

I unquestionably enjoyed making the smoothie because I got to understand how important it is to listen to your target audience when creating a solution to solve their problems.

Idris

I found the museum very interesting as it showed us how brands have developed throughout centuries. It helped me learn how to tailor products to the clients' needs.

Jeongwoo

Overall, I found this trip very educational and entertaining at the same time. Firstly the “brand museum” was able to provide a highly educational experience, they gave us thorough insight on the world of branding – telling us about what makes good branding, certain terminology that relates to branding (USP) and helping us analyse the branding used by other companies (Innocent smoothies, Cadburys, Guinness).

Umar

The museum is appreciated for how its brand has evolved over time.

Quinn

I enjoyed walking through the time warp and looking at the different brands and making a smoothie for our client.

Ivaylo

I enjoyed the time warp alongside the teamwork part. It was interesting to see how brands evolved their packaging through time.

Thomas

I enjoyed the trip because I got to see all the different packaging in the time museum from famous brands overtime. I also enjoyed working as a team to create a smoothie from the client brief.
