House Shield Winners 2023-24
Every year, houses across the school and in every year group compete fiercely to win the House Competition and have the honour of possessing the House Shield. Students in every tutor group from 7-11 go head-to-head across the course of the year as part of a range of competitive events including sports, design, art, poetry and physical dexterity as well as their knowledge and understanding of various cultures, historical events and significant societal issues.
After much to-ing and fro-ing amongst the houses, Spartans came top of the league at the end of the Summer Term 2024 and were declared overall winners for the very first time in the history of this prestigious award. The shield itself was awarded to House Co-ordinator for Spartans (Mr. Neesham, pictured with Toni and Matthew, two of Spartans’ ‘House Stars’) at the recent Prize Giving event. Mr Neesham said:
“It was an arduously fought and closely won battle and Argonauts in particular were very worthy competition. However, we are glad to say that Spartans are officially the best house in the school for the first time ever; we welcome another year and another opportunity to prove ourselves again. We’d also like to acknowledge the hard work that all House Co-ordinators do to keep the competition running and, of course, the diligence and vigilant efforts of House Leader Miss Foster, without whom none of this would be quite so awesome”.
