Forty students from Years 9 and 10 gathered early on a Sunday morning in February to travel to Seville in Spain.
Four days of exploration, fun and culture followed that involved the students attending classes in a Spanish school where they participated in lessons, visiting Rael Betis Football Stadium, travelling by boat up the Guadalquivir River, visiting the Bull Ring where we gained an insight into the passionate art of bull fighting. We visited the Cathedral where Christopher Columbus is buried and learned about the unique Andalucian identity which is based on a mixture of Roman, Jewish, Muslim and Christian heritage. We enjoyed panorama views of the city from the iconic Toad Stool Monument and visited the markets and tasted the wonderful tapas and traditional Andalusian cuisine.
The students were a credit to Rutlish and attracted positive feedback from the staff at the Spanish School and all our Guides.
