The theme for this year's Black History Month celebrations is "proud to be..." The Proud To Be campaign will also focus on encouraging children and young people to share what they are Proud To Be.
The national campaign aims to make Black History Month 2021 personal and unique to individuals, families and communities, focusing on how we’re all making history all the time in our own ways, as well as the contributions and achievements of Black people throughout history.
Rutlish School have marked the start of Black History Month 2021 with a whole school assembly led by a group of Year 7 students.
Over the month, students will have the opportunity to explore black history throughout their curriculum and teaching staff have specific resources to support this. Teachers and students will also be encouraged to talk about and understand issues of race and equality.
