Science in particular is engaging and the after school club was excellent. I see plenty of boys outside school, they are generally respectful and well behaved. Well done on the uniform policy too. Also, love the App and the regular feedback notices, they are great and make me feel more engaged with the school in general.
Year 10 Parent
Although our son always works hard, he is fortunate enough to be quite naturally academic and enjoys school and learning. But, when he first joined Rutlish, he would: • Be terrified of trying to speak French in public and didn't enjoy languages at all • Did not engage in drama and would find any public display quite painful • Played the guitar but would never perform publicly • Wouldn't attend anything like cubs or scouts as he found it too loud and shouty • Didn't really engage in any team sport or sports in general As he enters Year 10, he is not only doing really well academically but, importantly to us, is becoming fantastically well-rounded. So, where he could have very easily become drawn into an academic bubble, the school and teachers have given him the opportunities and confidence to grow and develop in other areas whilst also fulfilling his academic potential. He confidently speaks French and loves every opportunity to use it, is passionate about music and really enjoys performing on stage. He is also an enthusiastic member of the CCF, folding/ironing (!!) his own clothes, taking responsibility for things and being an active part of the community through volunteering. So, a big thank you from us to the entire school team for doing such a great job. I'm sure each of them contributes to making the school what it is.
I could not have been more pleased with our choice of secondary school. Every member of staff puts in well above the Call of Duty. The extra after-school Saturday and holiday classes for year 11 have been amazing. I have not heard anything like this from any other school. The care and affection that the staff have for the pupils shines through. My son has loved Rutlish from the very first day and so do I. Thank you so much to each and every one of the staff. I really, really am pleased we chose Rutlish. Thank you.
Thank you
We chose Rutlish over Tiffin and are delighted we did. We are really pleased with the academic and extracurricular opportunities and feel the school achieves a balance between striving for the academic achievement and the importance of well-being, enjoyment of life and ethical living.
Councillor Sally Kenny
I am writing to congratulate all the students and staff at Rutlish School on the wonderful success of their GCSE and Sixth form results this year. They have shown remarkable emotional and personal resilience with their exams which were significantly disrupted by the pandemic. The support from their teachers, support staff and families has been amazing and enabled students to achieve during such a difficult time. Please pass on my congratulations to all GCSE and Sixth form students on their exam results. They should all be very proud of their achievements.
Exam Results Congratulations
Congratulations to all of the pupils, teachers, parents, governors and staff at Rutlish School following your recent successful GCSE and A-Level results. At A-level, 77% of pupils at Rutlish School achieved A* to C grades. May I wish every success for the students embarking now on their paths, whether on to further study, apprenticeships, jobs or elsewhere. I am also delighted to see schools across Merton performing strongly at GCSE Level, reflecting the good or outstanding status that all Merton's secondary schools hold. This year, Merton's GCSE results beat national averages. Early figures show that 76% of Merton students achieved at least a 'standard' pass grade (4-9) in GCSE English and maths, which is well above the provisional national average of 66%. Also, 57% of Merton pupils secured a 'strong' pass (5-9), compared with 49% nationally. This succcess is a reflection not only of the hard work of students, but of the endless dedication shown by all of the staff. Once again, my warmest congratulations to all.
transition to Year 7
I'd like to say a massive thank you for all that you are doing to keep my son and his friends happy and safe. I know there may be challenges ahead, given the current circumstances but my son feels settled, motivated and ready to learn.
Transition
We have been blown away by the school's communication, dedication and clear love of the boys. From the day we received the letter to say he was accepted we have been impressed with the communication, the attention to detail, giving the boys clear explanations of what is to come.......... and I know from experience not what all schools do. The teachers we have been in contact with have all been amazing and so supportive.
Enjoyed Rutlish
My son has enjoyed his secondary education in this school. He loves education and achieves high. The teachers always help him along the way to excel. We are really happy overall I think I couldn’t have chosen a better school than Rutlish .
Amazing results
Absolutely fantastic school that helped my son achieve amazing results. Revision sessions are outstanding, communication has always been fast and helpful, support has always been given when needed.
